Isaiah 66:13
A mother prays for her son long before he knows it and long after he’s grown. This prayer is written in a mom’s voice, for a boy at home or a man living his own life. Change any line so it fits him.
Lord, You gave me this boy, and I loved him before I ever saw his face. I’ve watched him learn to walk and learn to drive. I’ve watched him leave. Through all of it, You have been watching too.
I give him back to You today. Keep him safe in body and in heart. Guard him from people who would use him and from choices he would regret.
Make him strong, Lord, but not hard. Let him be a man who can say he’s sorry and who treats women with respect. Give him work he can be proud of and friends who will tell him the truth.
When he is far from me, be near him. When he doesn’t pick up the phone, You still hear him.
I can’t fix everything for him anymore. Some days that is the hardest part of being his mother. So I trust You with what I can’t carry. Hold my son, and hold me while I wait and pray.

Lord, I’m his mother, and I can’t stop praying for him. Keep my son safe today. Guard his heart and his choices. Give him good friends and a good name. When he is far from me, stay near him. I trust You with the parts of his life I can’t see. Amen.
Praying for a grown son is different. You may not know where he is tonight or what is weighing on him. You can still pray. It can help to pray for him at the same time each day, so the habit carries you on the days when worry is loud.
