The LORD upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down.
Psalm 145:14
Sometimes a son struggles quietly and sometimes the whole family feels it. It might be school, work, a breakup, money, or something he won’t talk about. This prayer is for a mother or father who wants to help and doesn’t know how.
Lord, my son is having a hard time, and it is breaking my heart.
You see what I can’t. You know what is weighing on him, whether it is something he did or something he can’t name. Please meet him right where he is.
Lift him up, Father. Where he feels like a failure, remind him he is loved. Where he is stuck, give him the strength to take the next step.
Bring the right people into his life now. A friend who checks on him. Someone older who will tell him the truth with kindness.
Protect him from choices that would make things worse. Keep him safe in body and mind.
And help me, Lord. Show me when to step in and when to step back. Help me love him without nagging, and help him without enabling. Let him always know that home is a safe place to land.
I’m not giving up on my son. I know You haven’t either.
Amen.
A short prayer by name, every morning. Free to start.
The LORD upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down.
Psalm 145:14
A bruised reed He will not break and a smoldering wick He will not extinguish; He will faithfully bring forth justice.
Isaiah 42:3
We are hard pressed on all sides, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.
2 Corinthians 4:8–9
Lord, my son is struggling. Meet him where he is today. Lift his head, give him strength for the next step and bring good people around him. Keep him safe. Help me love him well and know how to help. I’m not giving up on him, and I know You won’t either. Amen.
Keep the door open by listening more than you talk, even when what you hear is hard. If he seems stuck in a low place, gently encourage him to see a doctor or counselor, and offer to help find one. If you ever fear for his safety, get emergency help right away. Take care of yourself too, and lean on people you trust.
