Then our sons will be like plants nurtured in their youth, our daughters like corner pillars carved to adorn a palace.
Psalm 144:12
Mothers and daughters can be very close and very far apart, sometimes in the same week. This prayer is for every season of that bond. Pray it for a young girl or for a daughter with children of her own.
Lord, thank You for my daughter. I remember the weight of her in my arms and the first time she laughed. She is grown now, or growing, and I still see that little girl when I look at her.
Watch over her today. Keep her safe, and keep her heart soft without letting it be crushed. Give her the strength to stand up for herself and the grace to forgive.
Help her know she is enough. Not because of how she looks or what she achieves, but because she is Yours. When she compares herself to everyone else, turn her eyes back to You.
Where things are hard between us, heal what needs healing. Help me listen more than I talk, and give advice only when she wants it. Let her always know that my door is open and my love doesn’t change.
Give her a faith that is real and lasting, one she can pass on someday.
I love her, Lord. You love her more. I’m trusting her to You.
Amen.
A short prayer by name, every morning. Free to start.
Then our sons will be like plants nurtured in their youth, our daughters like corner pillars carved to adorn a palace.
Psalm 144:12
Strength and honor are her clothing, and she can laugh at the days to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
Proverbs 31:25–26
being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 1:6
Father, bless my daughter today. Keep her safe and let her know she is loved, by You and by me. Give her strength for whatever she is facing and peace when she feels unsure. Help us stay close, and teach me when to speak and when to listen. Amen.
Not every mother and daughter are getting along right now. If there is distance between you, you can still pray for her. Pray for her good, not only for things to change between you. Ask God to soften your heart too, and to show you if there is something you need to say or let go of.
