The teenage years can feel like watching your child cross a busy street with their eyes on a phone. You can’t hold their hand the way you used to, but you can pray. This prayer is for a teenage son or daughter and for the parent at home waiting up.
Lord, my child is a teenager now, and some days I barely recognize the kid I used to know. You know them through and through. You haven’t lost track of them for a second.
Watch over my teen today. Go with them to school, to practice, into the cars they ride in and the group chats they read. Keep them from danger and from people who don’t have their good in mind.
Give them friends who are loyal and kind. Help them say no to the things that could hurt them, even when everyone else says yes. When they feel left out or anxious, let them know they are not alone.
Guard what they see and hear online. Help them see their own worth apart from likes and comments.
Lord, help me too. Give me patience when the door slams. Help me listen without lecturing and keep the line open even when they pull away. Let my teen always know they can come home and tell me the truth.
Hold my child close to You through these years. Amen.

Father, keep my teenager safe today. Guard their heart and their mind, online and off. Give them good friends and the courage to walk away from what’s wrong. When they feel alone, let them feel You near. And give me patience and the right words when they need me. Amen.
Many teenagers talk less and close their doors more. That doesn’t mean they don’t need you. Keep praying for them, keep showing up, and keep conversations light when you can. God sees the parts of their life you don’t.
