For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope.
Jeremiah 29:11
Every parent wonders what lies ahead for their child. This prayer asks God to guide your son or daughter toward a good future and to give them a kind of success that is about more than money. It works for a child of any age.
Lord, You know my child’s future. I only see today, but You see the whole road ahead.
Guide my child in the choices that shape their life. Help them find work that fits the gifts You gave them. Show them where to go and who to trust. When they are unsure, make the next step clear.
Bless the work of their hands. Let them be good at what they do and honest in how they do it. Give them success, Lord, but the kind that doesn’t cost them their soul. Let them care more about being faithful than being impressive.
Open the right doors. Close the ones that would lead them away from You. Put mentors and friends in their path who will help them grow.
When plans fall apart, as some will, help them not lose heart. Remind them that You are still at work.
I trust You with my child’s tomorrow. Help me stop trying to plan it for them.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
A short prayer by name, every morning. Free to start.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope.
Jeremiah 29:11
A man’s heart plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.
Proverbs 16:9
I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go; I will give you counsel and watch over you.
Psalm 32:8
Lord, guide my child’s future. Lead them to work that fits who they are and to people who are good for them. Bless their efforts with success that honors You. When plans change, keep them hopeful and remind them You are still with them. I trust You with their tomorrow. Amen.
It’s natural to want your child to do well in school and at work. Many parents also pray for things that never show up on a résumé, like good character and a faith that lasts. You can pray for both.
