But from everlasting to everlasting the loving devotion of the LORD extends to those who fear Him, and His righteousness to their children’s children —
Psalm 103:17
Grandparents have a special place in a child’s life and a special kind of love. You may not see them every day, but you can pray for them every day. This prayer is for all your grandchildren, near or far.
Lord, thank You for my grandchildren. I never knew I could love this much a second time around.
Watch over each one of them today. Keep them safe at home, at school, on the playground and in the car. Protect them from illness and from harm. Let them grow up healthy and happy.
Bless their parents. Give them patience and wisdom, especially on the hard days. Help them raise these children to know You.
Let my grandchildren come to love You for themselves. May the faith that has been passed down in this family take root in them. Let them be kind and honest, and let them stand up for what is right.
Help me be a good grandparent. Let me be a safe place for them, someone who laughs with them and tells them about You. Help me support their parents without stepping on toes.
I may not see everything their lives hold, but You will. Keep them in Your care long after I’m gone.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

But from everlasting to everlasting the loving devotion of the LORD extends to those who fear Him, and His righteousness to their children’s children —
Psalm 103:17
Grandchildren are the crown of the aged, and the glory of a son is his father.
Proverbs 17:6
“As for Me, this is My covenant with them,” says the LORD. “My Spirit will not depart from you, and My words that I have put in your mouth will not depart from your mouth or from the mouths of your children and grandchildren, from now on and forevermore,” says the LORD.
Isaiah 59:21
Lord, bless my grandchildren today. Keep them safe and healthy wherever they are. Give their parents wisdom and patience. Draw each child close to You. Help me be a grandparent who points them to Your love. Keep them in Your care all their days, long after I’m gone. Amen.
If your grandchildren live far away, prayer is one way to stay close. Keep a photo of each child where you’ll see it, and pray for them when you do. You can also tell them, on a call or in a card, that Grandma or Grandpa prays for them every day. It’s a small thing they may remember for a long time.
