Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, until I proclaim Your power to the next generation, Your might to all who are to come.
Psalm 71:18
There’s something about a grandson that softens even the toughest grandparent. This prayer asks God to watch over him and help him grow into a good man. Use his name, and pray it whenever he is on your mind.
Lord, thank You for my grandson. He has brought so much joy into my life.
Watch over him today. Keep him safe on his bike and on the playground, and in all the places his parents can’t see. As he gets older, keep him safe on the road and in the choices he makes.
Help him grow into a good man. Make him honest and brave. Let him be gentle with people who are weaker than him and respectful to everyone. Give him friends who bring out the best in him.
Bless his parents as they raise him. Give them patience and wisdom for each stage.
Let my grandson know You, Lord. Let the faith of his family become his own, and let him pass it on one day.
Help me be a grandparent he can count on. Let me cheer at his games and tell him about You. Let him always know how proud I am of him.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
A short prayer by name, every morning. Free to start.
Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, until I proclaim Your power to the next generation, Your might to all who are to come.
Psalm 71:18
Then all your sons will be taught by the LORD, and great will be their prosperity.
Isaiah 54:13
I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go; I will give you counsel and watch over you.
Psalm 32:8
Lord, watch over my grandson today. Keep him safe and healthy. Help him grow into an honest, kind young man who loves You. Bless his parents as they raise him. Let him always know how much his grandparents love him and how proud we are of him. Amen.
You can tell your grandson stories from your own life about times God helped you. You can pray with him at meals or before bed when he stays over. Small moments like these can stay with a child for years.
