A grandchild’s birthday is a happy reminder of how much your family has grown. This prayer thanks God for your grandson or granddaughter and asks Him to bless the year ahead. You can pray it at the party or tuck a few lines into a card.
Lord, today my grandchild is a year older, and I’m so grateful.
Thank You for the day they were born and for every year since. Thank You for their laugh and the way they run to me. I didn’t know how much joy a grandchild could bring until You gave me this one.
Bless them in the year ahead. Keep them healthy and safe. Help them learn and grow, at school and at home. Give them good friends and plenty of reasons to smile.
Let them grow in kindness this year and in knowing You. Plant a faith in their heart that keeps growing long after the candles are blown out.
Bless their parents too, and give them joy in watching this child grow.
Thank You for letting me be part of this child’s life. Help me be there for many more birthdays.
Let my grandchild always know how loved they are.
