Isaiah 40:11
When a grandchild is sick, a grandparent’s heart aches twice, once for the child and once for their parents. This prayer asks God to heal your grandson or granddaughter and to hold the whole family together while you wait.
Lord, my grandchild is sick, and I’m asking You to heal them.
You love this child more than any of us. Please touch their body. Take away the pain and the fever. Help the medicine work. Give them rest, and bring back their appetite and their smile.
Be with the doctors and nurses. Give them wisdom and gentle hands. Help them find the right answers.
Comfort my grandchild. If they are scared, let them feel safe. If they are in a hospital bed, let them feel Your peace in that room. Let them know they are surrounded by love.
Strengthen their parents, Lord. They are tired and scared. Give them rest when they can get it and clear minds for every decision. Help me know how to help them, whether that’s bringing a meal or watching the other kids.
I would take this sickness on myself if I could. Since I can’t, I give my grandchild to You. Please bring them back to health.

When a grandchild is sick, the parents are often stretched thin. Along with praying, you can offer practical help: meals, rides, laundry, time with siblings. Ask what would help most rather than guessing. And let them know you are praying, even if they are too tired to reply.
