And though one may be overpowered, two can resist. Moreover, a cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
Ecclesiastes 4:12
Every marriage goes through seasons, some easy and some hard. This prayer asks God to protect your marriage, to soften both your hearts and to help you keep choosing each other. Pray it alone or together.
Lord, thank You for my marriage and for the person You’ve given me to share my life with.
Protect what we have. Guard us from anything that would come between us, from busyness and old hurts we haven’t dealt with. Keep our hearts turned toward each other.
Help us love each other well. Give us patience for each other’s flaws and the humility to apologize first. Teach us to listen before we answer. Help us fight fair and forgive quickly.
Where we’ve grown distant, bring us back. Where there is hurt, bring healing. Remind us why we fell in love, and help us find new reasons to stay in love.
Bless our home. Let our children, if we have them, see a marriage that is kind and steady. Let our friends see something of You in the way we treat each other.
Be at the center of our marriage, Lord. We can’t do this well on our own. Keep us close to You and to each other, for all the years You give us.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
A short prayer by name, every morning. Free to start.
And though one may be overpowered, two can resist. Moreover, a cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
Ecclesiastes 4:12
with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, and with diligence to preserve the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
Ephesians 4:2–3
Above all, love one another deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
1 Peter 4:8
Lord, bless our marriage. Keep our hearts turned toward each other. Give us patience and the humility to forgive. Where we’ve drifted apart, bring us back together. Be at the center of our home and our love, and keep us close to You for all the years ahead. Amen.
