A Prayer for My Husband

Husbands often carry more than they say out loud. This prayer is a way for a wife to hold her husband up before God, for his work, his health and your marriage. Pray it in the morning or after he leaves for the day.

Lord, thank You for my husband. Thank You for the man he is and for the life we’ve built together.

Be with him today. Give him strength for his work and wisdom for the decisions he has to make. When he is under pressure, give him peace. When he is tired, give him rest. Keep him safe on the road and healthy in body and mind.

Guard his heart. Keep him from temptation and from anything that would pull him away from You or from our family. Make him a man of integrity, at home and at work.

Help him love our family well. Let him be gentle with our children and patient with me.

Draw him close to You, Lord. If his faith feels dry, refresh it. Let him find his worth in You and not in his paycheck or his title.

Bless our marriage. Help us keep choosing each other. Help me encourage him more than I criticize, and let him know how much I love and respect him.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A short prayer by name, every morning. Free to start.

Verses to pray with

He is like a tree planted by streams of water, yielding its fruit in season, whose leaf does not wither, and who prospers in all he does.

Psalm 1:3

Be on the alert. Stand firm in the faith. Be men of courage. Be strong. Do everything in love.

1 Corinthians 16:13–14

But those who wait upon the LORD will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.

Isaiah 40:31

A short prayer for my husband

Lord, bless my husband today. Give him strength for his work and peace when the pressure builds. Keep him safe and healthy. Guard his heart and draw him close to You. Help us love each other well and keep choosing each other, on the easy days and the hard ones. Amen.

When things are hard between you

Praying for your husband can be hardest when you are hurt or angry with him. You can still pray, honestly. Tell God what’s going on and ask Him to work in both of your hearts. Praying for him doesn’t mean ignoring real problems or staying quiet about them.

Pray for your husband daily
