Dads don’t always say when they’re struggling. This prayer is for your father, whether he is still working hard or slowing down. It thanks God for him and asks for his health and peace in this season of his life.
Lord, thank You for my dad.
Thank You for the ways he has taken care of our family, the long days at work and the things he fixed without being asked. Thank You for what he taught me, even the lessons I didn’t appreciate at the time.
Be with him today. Keep him healthy and strong. If his body is wearing down, give him comfort and good care. Give his doctors wisdom. Keep him safe on the road and at home.
Give him peace in his heart. If he is worried about money or his health, help him lay those worries down. If he feels like he isn’t needed anymore, remind him that he is.
Draw him close to You, Father. Let him know Your love in a way that is real to him.
Help me honor him. Give me patience when we disagree and the humility to say thank you and I love you while I can. Where there is distance between us, bring us closer.
Hold my dad in Your hands, Lord.

Not everyone had a good father, and praying for him can stir up mixed feelings. You can still bring him to God honestly, hurt and all. Pray for his heart and for your own healing. God knows what a father should have been, and He can comfort you where yours fell short.
