Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband praises her as well: “Many daughters have done noble things, but you surpass them all!”
Proverbs 31:28–29
However old we get, we never stop being someone’s child. This prayer is for your mother, whether she is busy and well or getting older and needs more care. It gives thanks for her and asks God to watch over her.
Lord, thank You for my mom.
Thank You for everything she has done for me, the things I noticed and the many I didn’t. Thank You for her love and the way she still worries about me.
Be with her today. Keep her healthy and strong. If her body is aching or her memory is slipping, be gentle with her and give her what she needs. Ease any pain she is carrying.
Give her peace. Take away the worries that keep her up at night. Where she feels lonely, send people to visit and call. Let her know she is not forgotten.
Draw her close to You, Lord. Let her faith be a comfort to her in this season of her life.
Help me be a good son or daughter to her. Give me patience when we don’t see eye to eye. Help me call more often and listen more closely. Where there are old hurts between us, help us forgive.
Thank You for the gift of my mother. Hold her in Your care.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
A short prayer by name, every morning. Free to start.
Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband praises her as well: “Many daughters have done noble things, but you surpass them all!”
Proverbs 31:28–29
Even to your old age, I will be the same, and I will bear you up when you turn gray. I have made you, and I will carry you; I will sustain you and deliver you.
Isaiah 46:4
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
2 Corinthians 1:3–4
Lord, bless my mom today. Keep her healthy and give her peace. Comfort her when she is lonely or worried. Thank You for all the love she has given me over the years. Help me honor her and love her well while I can. Keep her close to You. Amen.
As mothers get older, our prayers often change. We pray about doctor’s appointments and about patience on both sides. If your mom’s health is failing, you can pray for her comfort and for wisdom about her care. And pray for yourself too, because caring for a parent is hard work.
