God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble.
Psalm 46:1
Wanting to keep your family safe is one of the deepest instincts there is. This prayer asks God to protect each person you love, at home and away. Pray it in the morning before everyone leaves or at night when the house is quiet.
Lord, I ask You to protect my family.
Watch over our home. Keep it safe from fire and from anyone who would break in. Let it be a place of rest.
Go with each of us today. Protect us on the highway, at work, at school, in crowded places and lonely ones. Keep us from accidents and from people who mean us harm.
Protect our health. Guard our bodies and our minds. Where someone is sick, bring healing.
Protect our relationships too. Keep anything from coming between us. Guard our marriages and our children’s hearts.
When we’re apart, be with each one of us. Bring us back together safely.
Lord, I can’t keep my family safe on my own. I lock the doors and check the weather, and still I worry. So I put my family in Your hands. You are stronger than anything we might face.
Keep us in Your care tonight and every night.

Lord, protect my family today. Watch over our home and each person in it. Keep us safe wherever we go. Guard our health and our hearts. When we’re apart, be with each of us and bring us home safely. I can’t hold all of this, so I’m putting it in Your hands. Amen.
Some families pray for protection at bedtime, walking through the house or standing at each child’s door. It’s a simple way to end the day by handing your worries to God. Even a sentence is enough.
