Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own.
Matthew 6:34
Worry runs ahead to everything that could go wrong. This prayer brings you back to today and puts tomorrow in God’s hands.
Lord, I can’t stop worrying.
My mind keeps asking what if: what if it goes wrong, what if I can’t handle it, what if the people I love get hurt. I bring every one of those questions to You.
You feed the birds and dress the flowers. You know what I need before I ask. Help me believe that You will take care of tomorrow.
Show me the difference between what I can do something about and what I need to leave with You. Give me courage for the first and peace for the second.
Today has enough in it. Help me live this day, not the ten that haven’t happened yet.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own.
Matthew 6:34
Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.
1 Peter 5:7
Look at the birds of the air: They do not sow or reap or gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
Matthew 6:26
Lord, this is out of my hands, and it’s safe in Yours. Amen.
In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus told His listeners not to worry about tomorrow, pointing to the birds and wildflowers God takes care of. He wasn’t saying their problems were small. He was saying they weren’t alone with them.
