For His anger is fleeting, but His favor lasts a lifetime. Weeping may stay the night, but joy comes in the morning.
Psalm 30:5
Some sadness has a clear reason, and some just arrives. Either way, this prayer brings it to God honestly, without needing to cheer up first.
Lord, my heart is heavy today.
You know why I’m sad, even when I don’t fully know myself. I don’t have to explain it to You or hide it behind a smile.
Sit with me in this. You wept with Your friends when they grieved. You understand tears.
Lift my eyes a little. Show me one good thing today, one reason to hope.
Bring comfort through the people around me: a kind word, a call, a hug.
You promised that weeping may last for the night, but joy comes in the morning. I’m waiting for that morning, Father.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
For His anger is fleeting, but His favor lasts a lifetime. Weeping may stay the night, but joy comes in the morning.
Psalm 30:5
So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.
John 16:22
Those who sow in tears will reap with shouts of joy.
Psalm 126:5
Lord, I’m sad today. Be my comfort and my hope. Amen.
Many of the Psalms are sad. Their writers told God exactly how low they felt, and then reminded themselves of His love. Being sad doesn’t mean your faith is weak. If the sadness doesn’t lift for weeks, it’s worth talking to a doctor.
