When life is hard, comfort is what you need most and often find least. This prayer asks the God of all comfort to hold you close.
Lord, I need comfort.
This season is hard, and I’m hurting more than people can see. You see it all.
You are the God of all comfort. Hold me the way a parent holds a crying child.
Be with me in this valley. I may not understand why this is happening, but I don’t want to walk through it without You.
Send comfort through the people around me: a meal, a message, a hand on my shoulder.
And one day, when I’m through this, help me comfort someone else the way You are comforting me now.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Lord, hold me close today. Be my comfort. Amen.
Paul wrote that God comforts us in our troubles so we can comfort others in theirs. The hard season you are in now may one day make you the right person to sit with someone else in theirs.
