Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled; do not be afraid.
John 14:27
Peace can feel far away when your mind is busy or your home is tense. This prayer asks for God’s peace, the kind that doesn’t depend on everything going right.
Lord, I need Your peace.
Calm my mind. Quiet the noise inside me and the noise around me.
Bring peace to my home. Where there is tension, bring patience. Where there is hurt, bring forgiveness. Where there is silence, help us talk again.
Bring peace to my relationships, my work and my plans for the future.
And bring peace to this world, to every place torn by fighting and fear.
You promised a peace not like the one the world gives. Let it guard my heart and my mind today.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled; do not be afraid.
John 14:27
‘May the LORD bless you and keep you; may the LORD cause His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; may the LORD lift up His countenance toward you and give you peace.’
Numbers 6:24–26
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, for to this you were called as members of one body. And be thankful.
Colossians 3:15
Lord, let Your peace rule in my heart today. Amen.
The blessing in Numbers 6, above, is one of the oldest prayers for peace. Priests spoke it over the people of Israel. You can pray it over your family at the door in the morning or at bedtime.
