If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9
Whether you need forgiveness or need to forgive, it starts with being honest with God. This prayer covers both.
Lord, I have done wrong, and I’m sorry.
You know what I did, and what I didn’t do that I should have. I don’t want to hide it or excuse it anymore. Please forgive me.
Thank You that when I confess, You are faithful to forgive and to make me clean. Take this guilt from me, as far as the east is from the west.
Help me make things right where I can, and accept Your forgiveness where I can’t.
And Lord, there are people I need to forgive. You know who they are. I can’t do it on my own yet. Soften my heart, and help me forgive as You have forgiven me.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9
As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.
Psalm 103:12
Be kind and tenderhearted to one another, forgiving each other just as in Christ God forgave you.
Ephesians 4:32
Lord, I’m sorry. Please forgive me and give me a clean heart. Amen.
Forgiving doesn’t mean saying what happened was fine, and it doesn’t always mean trusting again. It means letting go of the debt. For a deep hurt, that can take many prayers over a long time. Start by asking God to help you want to forgive.
