Micah 6:8

He has shown you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?
Micah 6:8 · BSB

Plain meaning

Micah pictures a courtroom where God calls the mountains as witnesses and charges His own people with forgetting the Exodus. Someone then asks what offering could settle things: calves, rivers of oil, even a firstborn child. This verse is the answer. Rituals aren't the point; fair dealing, kindness, and humility are.

Where it sits

Micah, chapter 6. The words of the prophet Micah, who speaks against injustice in Israel and Judah and promises a ruler from Bethlehem.
