And over all these virtues put on love, which is the bond of perfect unity.
Paul is writing to a small church in Colossae, a town in what is now Turkey, where Greeks, Jews, slaves, and free people shared the same gatherings. He has just listed clothes to put on: compassion, kindness, patience. Love goes over all of them, like a belt that holds the outfit together and binds the group as one.
Colossians, chapter 3. A letter from Paul to the church in Colossae, about who Christ is and how to live as His people.
